After a Fifteen-Year Tenure, CEO Matt Whineray Announces Resignation from Guardians of NZ Superannuation. Matt Whineray, who has led the $60 billion NZ Super Fund under the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation, has informed the Board of his decision to resign. His departure is scheduled for the end of the year.
Mr. Whineray expressed his privilege in working with a highly talented and dedicated team, contributing to the transformation of the Guardians into a world-class investor. This endeavor has resulted in the creation of substantial value for both current and future generations of New Zealanders.

The Guardians of NZ Superannuation has named Paula Steed as the Acting Chief Executive, filling the role until a permanent Chief Executive is selected.
Having joined the Guardians in July 2021 as the General Manager of Strategy and Shared Services, Paula Steed has been appointed as the Acting Chief Executive. She came to the Guardians from ASB Bank, where she served as the Chief Internal Auditor. With 25 years of experience in financial services and banking, including roles at Deloitte, AMP, ANZ, and ASB, Ms. Steed currently oversees the strategic development, finance, tax, and investment operations teams as the General Manager of Strategy and Shared Services.
Catherine Drayton, Chair of the Guardians, shared that the search for a permanent Chief Executive is progressing well, with expectations of making an appointment later this year.
